Privacy Policy

BiLingual Dictionary keeps your data on your device. The app has no accounts of its own, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We run no servers.

Your words stay with you

Your notebook, profile, study history and settings live on your device, stored with Apple's SwiftData. They never reach us, and we cannot read them.

If you turn on iCloud Sync in the app, iOS copies that same data to your own private iCloud account so it appears on your other devices. It goes to Apple, under your Apple ID, never to us. iCloud Sync is off until you turn it on, and turning it off keeps the data on the device only.

Dictionary lookups

The app ships with a built-in offline dictionary, so most searches never leave your phone. For words it lacks, the app queries free public dictionary services:

Wiktionary and Wiktionnaire (Wikimedia Foundation)
The Free Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev)
The Korean Learners' Dictionary (National Institute of Korean Language)

Each request carries the word you searched and a generic app identification header. It never carries your name, your email or any identifier of yours.

Bug reports

When you send a bug report from the app, the developer receives your message, your name if you choose to give it, the screenshot you chose to attach, if any, and basic technical context: app version, iOS version, device model and language. The app sends a resized copy of that image, without its location or other metadata. The report travels through a relay that turns it into an email for the developer: a Google Apps Script web app in the developer’s own Google account (script.google.com), or the FormSubmit relay (formsubmit.co) in earlier versions, which carries no image. The app sends nothing until you tap Send, and the report includes no personal identifier.

Signing in is optional. The app uses it once, to prefill your name on your own device, and sends nothing to us.

Notifications & backups

Your device schedules study reminders locally, and only if you turn them on. Backups you export are plain JSON files under your control.

Deleting your data

Apart from the bug reports you send, the app collects nothing, so there is nothing to request, correct or delete on our side. Deleting the app removes all of its data from the device. Delete All Data, under Profile › Backup & Restore, does the same without deleting the app. Copies kept in your iCloud account are managed from your iCloud settings.
